Three mistakes when installing ventilation

Balanced ventilation keeps the air in an airtight house healthy and the heat inside. Three mistakes come back again and again, and all three are easy to avoid when you plan ahead.

1. Planning the ducts last

Ducts need room: in a ceiling, a wall or a floor. When ventilation is the last thing on the list, there is no room left, and the ducts end up long, bent and noisy. Plan them with the rest of the renovation, before the ceilings are closed.

2. Choosing the unit before the house

A ventilation unit is chosen for the airflow the house needs, room by room. Bedrooms, the living room and the kitchen each ask for their own amount of air. Pick the unit after that calculation, not from a brochure.

3. Forgetting the filters

A system D unit has filters that need changing. When they are forgotten, the airflow drops and the fan works harder. Put the unit where you can reach it, and plan a reminder for the filters from the first day.

Ventilation and a heat pump

Ventilation and a heat pump work well together, but they are two different jobs. We plan them as one project, so the ducts, the pipes and the planning fit.
